Night Duty Manager

Night Duty Manager

 

We are currently seeking to recruit a Night Duty Manager to manage the hotel during night shifts incorporating all aspects of customer service and the administration of the night audit.

 

The role of the Night Duty Manager will involve:

 

  • Taking sole responsibility of the running of the whole hotel during the night and to be available when needed to the guests.
  • Managing the reception area and to answer, forward or action any calls as necessary.
  • Managing the front of house operations including checking in guests, taking payments and providing food & beverage service to guests
  • Managing the IT requirements including the running of the Night Audit process.
  • Monitoring the security of the hotel for the safety of all guests and members of staff.
  • Ensuring public areas are kept clean and well maintained at all times.

 

Previous experience in a similar role or venue is essential.

 

Candidates must have strong people and communication skills and be self-motivated as they will be spending large amounts of time on their own. A flexible “can do” attitude is a must.

 

The rota is provided on a rolling 3 days on followed by 3 days off pattern.   Normal working hours are 7pm to 7am between a Sunday and Thursday and 8pm to 8am on a Friday, Saturday and Bank Holiday Sunday.

Restaurant Manager

The 60-seater Restaurant at Tewin Bury Farm has two AA rosettes and is proud to serve superb dishes made from fresh ingredients, in a friendly and professional manner.  

 

We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Restaurant Manager.

 

The role of Restaurant Manager will involve:

 

 

  • Management of the Restaurant so that all guests receive excellent standards of customer service throughout.
  • Meeting and greeting guests.
  • Leading shifts, including training and motivating the team.
  • Achieving budgetary targets and making recommendations for development.
  • Liaising effectively with the Kitchen.
  • Dealing with customer queries and issues.
  • Compiling and implementing staff rotas.
  • Ensuring excellent standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

 

 

The successful candidate must have previous restaurant managerial experience within a 4* 2 rosette property.

 

 

Candidates must enjoy being a “hands-on” member of a team. All applicants must have a flexible approach to their work and be willing to work the hours required of the business.

 

 

An excellent standard of presentation is essential.

 

 

Our successful Restaurant Manager will work a variety of shifts, on any 5 days from 7, on any day of the year.

HR Officer part-time (maternity cover)

HR Officer (part-time, maternity cover contract)

 

We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced HR Officer/Administrator to cover a period of maternity leave for up to 12 months.

 

 

This standalone role will involve all aspects of HR within a busy hotel to include:

 

  • Providing HR advice to senior managers.
  • All HR correspondence.
  • Managing the staff recruitment process to include interviewing.
  • Sourcing and arranging required training.
  • Advising and supporting management in grievance, disciplinary, absence and performance management processes.
  • Providing ad hoc advice to staff.
  • Maintaining policies and procedures ensuring compliance with employment law.

 

 

Previous relevant experience in HR is essential.

 

 

This role will also involve managing the company’s Pension Auto-Enrolment process (as the hotels staging date is imminent) so knowledge in this area will be advantageous.

 

 

Candidates will need excellent communication, administration and organisational skills and as this is a standalone role, self-motivation is a must.

 

 

This role will involve working 2 days per week (16 hours). Days to be worked can be discussed at interview the only stipulation being is that the 2 days are not together.  We may be able to offer some flexibility in the hours worked i.e. 3 or 4 days but shorter hours, this can be discussed at interview.

Tewin Bury Farm itself is a 600 acre working family farm which includes nearly 2 miles of the River Mimram which is one of 180 of the most valuable chalk stream rivers in the whole of the world. The family are passionate not only about the hotel but they have a 10 year plan to grow more of the ingredients for the kitchens from the farm itself. They have recently installed a borehole to provide their own drinking water on site and hope in the future to heat the whole hotel by a Danish system fuelled by straw from the waste from Harvest. Perhaps one day to brew our own beer from the barley grown on the farm?

 

 

We have a 60-seater Restaurant plus 9 conference rooms, 4 of which are also used as wedding and event venues and can cater for up to 750 guests on site at one time. Our food is prepared from fresh ingredients in house. We have a serious commitment to green issues and sourcing food from local suppliers in the local area.

 

 

This is a new role reporting directly into the General Manager. The family is looking for an Executive Chef to oversee the kitchen operation within our prominent site whilst maintaining our excellent reputation and producing a healthy GP.

 

 

Responsibilities and Duties will Include

 

 

  • Working closely with the busy sales team to assist in every opportunity to generate revenue. The customer is king and unless it is impossible to do their request a “we can do attitude” is needed.
  • Creativity in menu development and liaising with suppliers.
  • To manage a large team including the recruitment, induction and development of the kitchen team.
  • Hands on support to both the Restaurant and Banqueting Head Chefs in terms of training as well as covering holidays and sickness.
  • To manage budgets and adhere to the financial targets set by the hotel.
  • To assist in maintaining high levels of hygiene and health and safety.
  • Ensuring consistency in food quality and presentation at all times.
  • Forming strong relationships with the management team and to work closely with the General Manager.

 

 

The Candidate

 

 

  • Must have a hands on flexible can do attitude.
  • Must have strong banqueting experience preferably at a 4* plus property as well as a restaurant experience of at a 2 rosette level.
  • Must have experience at an Executive Chef level or considerable experience as a Head Chef and looking for the next step up.
  • Must have strong financial acumen.
  • Must have strong organisational skills and excellent people skills.

Casual Housekeeping Supervisor

Casual Housekeeping Supervisor

 

We are currently seeking to recruit a casual Housekeeping Supervisor who takes pride in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness throughout the Hotel.

 

The successful candidate will have previous experience within a quality hotel, preferably at this level, and be able to motivate our experienced team.

 

Our Housekeeping Supervisor will be responsible for:

 

• Deputizing for the Housekeeping and Laundry Manager.
• Reviewing the occupancy and allocating rooms to the Housekeeping team accordingly.
• Ensuring that all of the bedrooms and public areas are consistently cleaned to the highest possible standards throughout.
• Cleaning rooms as required.
• Ensuring that staff are trained and motivated to complete their duties effectively.
• Checking rooms and ensuring they are returned for use within a timely manner.

 

Hours of work will be offered depending on the needs of the business although it is likely the successful candidate will be offered a minimum of 2 shifts per week. The ideal candidate will need to be flexible with the hours of work they perform as this role will mainly involve weekend work with the occasional weekday shift.

At Tewin Bury Farm, we are pleased to be able to host a wide variety of events at which the waiting staff are an integral part of.

 

We are currently looking to employ experienced Bar and Waiting staff to add to our bank of casual events and restaurant staff.


 
As a casual member of staff, the successful applicant will be offered work on an as and when basis dependent on the needs of the business.  Shifts to be offered are most likely at evenings and weekends so the successful applicant should be available at these times.

 

 The responsibilities will include:

 

  • Setting up and clearing of dining tables and chairs.
  • Ensuring excellent standard of cleanliness.
  • Provide a food and beverage service to guests in all types of banqueting functions mainly weddings and parties.
  • Ensuring guests receive a warm service and to answer any queries or issues they may have.

Pastry Chef

Pastry Chef

We have a 60-cover, 2 AA Rosette Restaurant plus 9 conference rooms, 4 of which are also used as wedding and event venues and can cater for up to 1,000 guests on site at one time. Our food is prepared from fresh ingredients in house.

 

We are currently seeking to recruit  Pastry Chef to provide quality pastries for both our Restaurant and Banqueting guests.  This role would ideally suit someone who is at Chef de Partie level and looking for the next step up.

 

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar environment and enjoy the challenge of creating quality pastries for both fine dining and for high volume concerns.

 

The role of Pastry Chef will involve:

• Preparing pastries for both the fine dining Restaurant and busy banqueting functions from fresh ingredients.
• Contributing towards menu planning, costing and achieving budgets as required.
• Meeting customer expectations with regards to quality and including special orders.
• Ensuring high standards of food hygiene are rigorously enforced.

We have a 60-seater Restaurant plus 9 conference rooms, 4 of which are also used as wedding and event venues and can cater for up to 1,000 guests on site at one time. Our food is prepared from fresh ingredients in house.

 

We are currently seeking to recruit 2 x Chef de Partie's to join our busy kitchens, all of which are modern and superbly equipped. You will either be working in the banqueting or the restaurant kitchen and would be expected to cover the kitchen as and when required.

 

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a banqueting or rosetted restaurant environment and enjoy working under pressure.

 

The role will involve:

 

• Preparing dishes from fresh ingredients.
• Producing mis en place in advance.
• Contributing towards menu planning and costing as requested.
• Maintaining food safety procedures, including food labelling, food temperatures and cleaning schedules.
• Meeting customer expectations with regards to quality and including special orders.
• Assisting in training and coaching of trainee chefs as requested.
